My Story #3
W.O.R.M
The acronym W.O.R.M stands for World of Rock Music. The name speaks for itself with regard to the genre of music these great guys play. Being together as a band since 1998, they grew up influenced by music from both east and west and were very much involved in the local music scene. They were rocking the city with an interesting concept of music, which that took the liberty to name 'Suicidal Trio'. The band from Kota Kinabalu categorizes themselves as an Ultra Rock band. After taking a long break from performing, people began asking on the whereabouts of W.O.R.M and are looking forward to hearing once again W.O.R.M rock the city! These demands spark the desire to realize their dreams again, and this time with a boom! Sounding fresh, solid and with a potential to rock your heart out, be entertained as W.O.R.M rocks My Story.
Kevin Tan
Born in Johor Bahru and raised up in three other states in the peninsular. Kevin started performing at the age of 16, when he first started learning the Chinese bamboo flute (di-zi) and performing with his mentor, Master Chew in Ipoh. Soon after that, while completing his A levels in Kuala Lumpur, he continued performing and learning with well known soloist Peng Hui. As his desire for music grew, Kevin furthered his trainings under the tutelage of Professor Zhan (ranked number four as a Chinese bamboo flautist in the world) at Nan Yang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Singapore. The young and talented Kevin soon found himself deeply immersed with the art of music composition under the tutelage of two renowned Malaysian composers Yii Kah Hoe and Chong Kee Yong. he continued performing and writing in Kuala Lumpur until fate brought him here to Sabah, and as he says, "I've fallen in love with this wonderful place." Kevin Tan now runs a music school in Damai, KK teaching and making music. Join us in My Story as Kevin Tan reveals his story and be amazed by the sound of his exotic flute.
